Following feedback from WBTC and other training providers, the Government has made improved changes to the criteria for the grants that employers can access when employing Apprentices.

Apprenticeships Increasing the Employability of 16-24 year olds

Although the number of unemployed 16-24 year olds fell by 10,000 in the three months to May 2012, there are still over one million young people looking for work. This may sound like a pretty bleak statistic if you are just leaving school, however, upskilling and training is one sure way to improve your chances of getting a job in today’s competitive market. With an Apprenticeship, you have the added bonus of being able to earn a weekly wage whilst you learn a valuable skill.

NAS Guidelines to Apprenticeship Quality

There were nearly half a million new Apprenticeship starts in 2010/11, and more and more learners and employers are realising how the significant advantages of Apprenticeships can help them. The National Apprenticeship Service quality statement, published in May 2012, sets out the expectations for Apprenticeship standards, also aiming to inform best practice for employers and providers in the design and delivery of Apprenticeships.
