BRITISH SAFETY COUNCIL CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE (Half day – virtual)

Time: 9:30am – 12:30pm

This workshop covers the principal aspects, elements, procedures and duties of employers and employees. It also highlights the consequences of non-compliance with health and safety legislation, the requirements for training and competence and the ways in which health and safety information can be communicated. The qualification assumes no prior knowledge. Focus is placed on the definitions of ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’, including the main hazards found in a range of workplaces and how they can cause harm, as well as the common causes of workplace accidents and ill-health. It includes the process for carrying out a risk assessment, illustrating how risk assessments can be used to reduce accidents and ill-health.

At the end of the session, attendees will be enrolled onto the British Safety Councils Online programme which includes interactive e-learning exercises, a downloadable study text and knowledge tests. Once enrolled attendees have six weeks to complete the course and assessments which, once successful, will result in a British Safety Council certificate.


INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL SKILLS (Half day – virtual)

The Essential Digital Skills framework defines the digital skills adults need to safely benefit from, participate in and contribute to the evolving digital world. There are currently two qualifications that can be achieved under this framework at Entry 3 and Level 1. These qualifications are suitable for learners with no or few digital skills and support the development of key skills such as using devices, creating and editing digital media, using technology to communicate, buying and transacting online, and how to stay safe and secure when using technology. This course is designed to be a general overview of the framework and what is involved at assessment stage.


COACHING AND MENTORING APPRENTICES (Half day – virtual)

Time: 1:30pm – 4:30pm

The success of an apprentice not only relies on the apprentice but also the mentor. This session covers the fundamentals behind coaching and mentoring apprentices, how to coach for success and mentor effectively. It’s a facilitated session where the responsibilities of a mentor are discussed along with the GROW model of coaching.


SAFEGUARDING MANDATORY 1618 (Full day – face-to-face)

Time: 9:30am – 4:30pm

This is a mandatory requirement for all our 16-18 year old apprentices and for any other apprentice who may want to attend. It is delivered as a workshop with the opportunity for the attendees to achieve an NCFE Level 1 Award in Safeguarding in the Learning Environment. The aim of this workshop is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding that everyone has the right to learn, to be safe and to be respected. This, in turn, will enable learners to make sure that they are being provided with a safe and secure learning environment that promotes their health and well-being.


AN INTRODUCTION TO WELLBEING AND RESILIENCE FOR APPRENTICES – MANDATORY 1618 (Virtual)

  • Friday 18th February 2022
  • Friday 6th May 2022

Time: 9:30am – 10:30am

This is a mandatory requirement for all our 16-18 year old apprentices and for any other apprentice who may want to attend. It is a one hour virtual session where attendees will get an introduction to mental health. It will cover the signs and factors of poor mental health and how to look after this with the five steps of wellbeing; it will also cover the understanding of resilience and the importance it plays with mental health within the workplace.


BTEC LEVEL 2 AWARD IN PRINCIPLES OF TEAM LEADING (six days over two weeks)

(Additional cost of £150 for WBTC members)

  • 17th – 19th January 2022, 24th – 26th January 2022
  • 16th – 18th May 2022, 23rd – 25th May 2022

Do you want to understand the role of the team leader and how to develop team performance? This introductory qualification covers the core knowledge of team leading. It will give attendees the opportunity to develop their understanding of leadership styles and the roles and responsibilities of a team leader along with how to develop team performance.


TEAM WELLBEING AND RESILIENCE FOR MANAGERS (Two hours virtual)

  • Friday 3rd December 2021
  • Friday 1st April 2022

Time: 9:30am – 11:30am

This workshop is a basic introduction for managers. It touches on what to look for within your team – signs and factors of poor mental health, the five steps of wellbeing – workplace wellbeing challenge and resilience – the four factors and how to encourage others to build resilience. It will cover how to create a culture of wellbeing within the workplace, how to have a conversation with someone about mental health and where to signpost someone with poor mental health.


PROJECT MANAGEMENT (Half day virtual)

Time: 9:30am – 12:30pm

The ability to be able to effectively plan and control a project and engage others in the process, is a skill that’s prized in business. More specialised skills are required to ensure an effective project outcome is achieved. This workshop will help you to consider the importance of planning, implementing and evaluating a project to deliver success. This course is aimed at people of all roles and levels of the business who would like to develop their knowledge and understanding of Project Management.


EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK (Full day)

When an organisation’s risk assessment of First Aid needs identifies that there is a requirement for Emergency First Aid at Work practitioners then this award for Emergency First Aid at Work will help. This will enable all attendees to have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner. This is a day’s workshop where attendees will be assessed by the course tutor and then have to take a multiple-choice assessment at the end of the day.

The course is designed to provide attendees with an introduction to the knowledge and attitudes required for working within a customer service environment. The qualification is suitable for learners who have little or no experience or training in customer service, that want a short introductory course to help them better understand the principles of good customers service and how to work in a customer service role.


BTEC LEVEL 1 AWARD IN PRINCIPLES OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (Three half days over two weeks)

(Additional cost of £150 for WBTC members)

The course is designed to provide attendees with an introduction to the knowledge and attitudes required for working within a business administrative services environment. The qualification is suitable for learners who have little or no experience or training in business administration, that want a short introductory course to help them better understand professional behaviour in the business environment and the principles of working in business administration.


LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID (Face-to-face – full day)

  • Friday 25th February 2022

Time: 9:30am – 5:30pm

This workshop is accredited training, which results in an Ofqual regulated Level 2 qualification (valid for three years, minimum age 16). Upon completion of on-the-day classroom-based assessment, participants will become ‘qualified Mental Health First Aiders’

TIME MANAGEMENT (Half day – virtual)

Course Date:

  • Friday 20th May 2022

Time: 9:30am – 12:30pm

The word ‘management’ implies taking an active role in how time is used, has been applied, as opposed to just letting things happen or allowing others to plan. This workshop encourages the attendee to truly plan, manage, make decisions and concisely focus on their time management. It will explore the difference between importance and urgency to improve efficiency and effectiveness.


PRESENTATION SKILLS FOR APPRENTICES (Half day – virtual)

Time: 9:30am – 12:30pm

As part of many End Point Assessment (EPA) processes apprentices will be required to deliver presentations. This short workshop will give hints and tips on best practice to enable apprentices to be fully prepared for their End Point Assessment presentations.


We reserve the right to charge non-attendance of training at a rate of £35 per attendee if less than 24hrs notice is given. This will be invoiced to your employer. Unfortunately, on some occasions courses may have to be cancelled due to low numbers and if this is the case we will aim to inform you as soon as possible.
