GRADUATES AND GUEST INFORMATION
This is your special day. In order to make it enjoyable for you we have provided some important prior reading. Take your time to look through the information below. You’ll notice that there are a few actions for you to consider regarding transport, gowns and photographs. It will be a busy and exciting day so please arrive early and well prepared.
Date and time
The graduation and awards will be taking place on Wednesday 28th October 2020. Everyone should arrive by 1.30pm to be seated in the auditorium by 1.45pm so that we can start proceedings at 2pm sharp. However, graduates will need to arrive at 12.30pm in order to collect their graduation attire and have your graduation photo taken (see below).
The venue and transport
For those travelling by car there is ample car parking at Arlington Arts Centre. Staff will be there to help you park and find your way into the venue.
Directions to the venue can be viewed through Google Maps here. The address is: Arlington Arts Centre, Mary Hare, Arlington Manor, Snelsmore Common, Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 3BQ.
Light refreshments and beverages will be provided for graduates and guests courtesy of WBTC and the event sponsors.
This is a high profile event and it will be attended by graduates, family, friends and employers. Therefore please dress smartly as you would for a job interview. See Graduate Gowns below.
In order to allow the event to go smoothly there will be a seating plan in the auditorium. WBTC staff will be on hand to direct you to your seat. Then sit back and enjoy your day.
A photographer will be available from 12:30 to take individual photos of graduates in their gowns. This will be done on a first come first served basis. The photographer will also be available after the ceremony if you would like a formal photo with your guest(s). For those who are finalists and winners in the awards ceremony the photographer will also take photos of you receiving your award. Photos will be available free of charge to download from a website address that will be given to you on the day,
Follow @WBTCNewbury on Twitter for updates on the event.
Marketing & Publicity
WBTC will be promoting the event both beforehand and afterwards. Newbury Weekly News is also a sponsor and will be present at the ceremony.
WBTC and event sponsors are paying for all graduates’ ceremonial wear. You may have seen this at University graduation events. The attire includes Gown, Hood and Mortar Board (sometimes called a graduate cap).
- Intermediate Apprentices’ attire will feature a purple stole
- Advanced Apprentices’ attire will feature a gold stole
- Higher Apprentices’ attire will feature a purple and gold stole
Your order for your graduate attire is made on the response form that you send to say you are attending. It will be waiting for you at the venue on the day of Graduation and someone will help you to put it on..
Please note that the clothes underneath your gown will be visible. In order to give you enough time to collect and put on your gown please arrive at the very latest by 1pm at Arlington Arts Centre. Then at the end of the event hand your gown back to us.
All graduates can bring one guest. This could be a member of your family, your work mentor or a friend. In many cases your employer has already been invited by WBTC in addition to your guest. You have been asked to nominate your guest on your response form. If you have requested additional guest places we will let you know if these are available nearer the date. Please note that we can’t guarantee more than one guest space per graduate.
More detailed information about arrangements for the day will be sent out by email to all confirmed graduates nearer the time.
