WBTC Learners Gain Valuable Work Experience

         

One of the major barriers to young people finding work in 2012 is the lack of experience, no matter what qualifications they have or how keen they are to gain employment. Work experience can be a very valuable way to add to your CV, which can help you stand out in a very competitive job market. 

West Berkshire Training Consortium learner Claire Terry found a work experience placement at Allison’s Dog Grooming in Ilkley Way, Thatcham. “I have always wanted to work with animals, and I couldn’t wait to start working with Allison,” she says, “I started bathing dogs and then gradually worked my way up.”One of the major barriers to young people finding work in 2012 is the lack of experience, no matter what qualifications they have or how keen they are to gain employment. Work experience can be a very valuable way to add to your CV, which can help you stand out in a very competitive job market.

Allison said, “I never thought of taking on a work experience learner until now, but I will definitely do it again. It’s nice to work with an enthusiastic person like Claire, and hopefully she will now be better able to find a permanent role because she has experience.”
