Newbury MP Richard Benyon visits WBTC to celebrate our fantastic learners and employers

“It is really great to see first hand all the good work that is being done in the local area; West Berkshire Training Consortium really changes lives,” said Newbury MP Ricahrd Benyon, visiting the WBTC offices on Friday, 15 March. The event was to mark Apprenticeship Week, and awards were presented to some of their dedicated learners and employers.

Among the learners being honoured were a group from the Prep4Work programme receiving good attendance awards (see above); Sydney Sova receiving the Learner of the Quarter award and Rahima Ali of Calcott Children’s Services who won the Apprentice ‘Above & Beyond’ Award.

Mr Benyon also gave out Certificates of Excellence as part of the WBTC Investment in Training Awards to four local employers; West Berkshire Council, SPX Flow Technology, BGM Plumbing & Heating and Tigers Training (see photo below). The Certificate of Excellence is the highest accolade given to employers who show exceptional leadership in the provision of Apprenticeships to local young people. “Apprenticeships cannot happen without the support of first rate employers,” said WBTC Managing Director Matt Garvey. “It is the employer who invests their time and effort into Apprentices, helping them to become the professionals of the future.”
