National Recognition for West Berkshire Training Consortium, newly awarded with a National Quality Mark

West Berkshire Training Consortium, based in Newbury town centre, has been accredited with the Matrix Standard, a prestigious, nationally recognised quality mark for organisations providing support to individuals to make learning and work more accessible.

West Berkshire Training Consortium works with around 250 Apprentices and young people seeking work as well as 100 local employers, and it wanted to ensure that these customers were receiving the best information, advice and guidance possible. The organisation decided that the Matrix Standard would be crucial in helping it to demonstrate its high levels of advice and guidance to customers.

Matt Garvey, Managing Director of WBTC, said, ‘in 2013, WBTC will celebrate 30 years of helping local people secure work with training in West Berkshire, and it is a great feeling to be entering the New Year with this huge vote of confidence! We received very positive feedback about our service from the matrix Standard, including how a recent management change had made us an even more open and friendly organisation that benefits local people and employers. In these difficult times of high unemployment, especially among young people, it is comforting to know that we’re helping people get into work and improve their prospects.’

Rachel Eaves, who led the inspection for WBTC, said, ‘the matrix Standard has benefitted our customers by ensuring that we provide impartial advice and guidance to people. We have used the very high benchmarks of the standard to implement strong feedback mechanisms and publish our standards of service in a new Customer Charter.’

David Allan, Managing Director at emqc Ltd said of the organisation’s achievement:

“This matrix Accreditation is another example of how the matrix Standard is proving effective for all types of organisations, helping them to provide a more professional service offering and to strive to be the best in their sector.”
