How could an AGE Grant help you recruit an A Level calibre Apprentice?

Many companies have been benefitting from the AGE 16-24 grants since they were introduced in February 2012, as they are an ideal opportunity to discover for the first time what an Apprentice can do to help your business succeed. If you employ less than 1000 people and have not employed an apprentice within the last 12 months, you could be eligible for up to ten of these grants, worth £1500 each, to invest in your business however you wish. Even better, this offer has now been extended until March 2014.

This grant can be especially beneficial at this time of year, when a lot of very talented and motivated A Level students are thinking about their options. Many may be put off University by soaring fees and high levels of graduate unemployment, but now that an Apprenticeship is considered as an equivalent to a degree they are becoming increasingly attractive, especially as you can earn whilst you gain your qualification. An Apprenticeship can be seen as a step up into a variety of careers for A Level candidates, from Business Administration, Law and Customer Service, to Surveying, Facilities Management and IT. Also, more traditional Apprenticeships in areas such as Plumbing, Hairdressing and Child Care are still very popular – you can undertake any Apprenticeship no matter how A Levels you have.

Research shows that Apprenticeships are a very effective way of training and developing people for the future, and with a £1500 grant to help you get started, they are more affordable than ever.
