Job Title: Employability Learning Coordinator
 
Salary: Fixed Term 12 months circa £21,000
 
Hours: Full or Part Time Considered
 
Responsible to: Employability Learning Manager

Based in West Berkshire, we specialise in providing excellent training and support to learners with diverse and complex needs.
 
One of our core objectives is to dramatically increase the number of our learners gaining employment and qualifications. You will be at the heart of this transformation working with local people and employers to increase the uptake of training and jobs. You will raise the operational profile of employability across the area to secure a significant proportion of unemployed learners move into employment and gain qualifications  meeting targets as appropriate.
 
Job Location: This is an outreach role linked to the government’s Youth Contract for 16-17 year olds across Berkshire and other Employability Programmes operated by WBTC. All employees are required to be flexible in their approach to working conditions and expected to work at other locations as required. Employability Programmes involve outreach and peripatetic activities across Berkshire and ideal applicants will live in or close to Newbury, Reading or Slough.
 
Job Purpose:
To work as part of the Employability Learning team and wider delivery team, to support curriculum delivery across Employability programmes within an active Training Provider. To support recruitment of learners, employer engagement, initial assessment, teaching performance, learner achievement, attendance and retention, target setting, resource development and other quality measures as required by awarding bodies, funders and inspection bodies.
 
Principal Duties:
  1. Engage and enrol eligible learners onto Employability Programme
  2. Engage employers to offer work placements, employment, Apprenticeships to Employability Learners
  3. Responsible for the development and delivery of a range of Employability Learning programmes which may embedded into vocational programmes. These include but are not restricted to
    • Prep4Work (Foundation Learning)
    • BIONIC (ESF NEET Reduction)
    • Skills for Unemployed Adults
    • Youth Contract
  4. You will be responsible for developing lesson plans, schemes of work and tutorial resources to an agreed format for use within the education department. To adapt and provide user friendly resources for the delivery of the curriculum
  5. To assess learners in accordance with Awarding body guidelines; liaising with the appropriate awarding body as and when necessary ensuring compliance with their policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to an efficient learner tracking system in compliance with WBTC’s quality systems and funding body guidelines. Monitor  and support learner attendance, retention and achievements providing accurate management information as and when required
  6. To undertake administrative duties, maintaining confidential records, monitor, review and evaluate work in line with quality standards.
  7. To comply with WBTC confidentiality policies and procedures
  8. Responsible for ensuring Health and Safety is implemented and maintained
  9. Ensure compliance with equal opportunities and other legislative requirements
  10. Required to work as part of a team, sharing resource development and promoting good practice; attend team and staff meetings as required
  11. Required to undergo training recommended by the line manager
  12. Participate in quality assurance processes such as standardisation, marking/assessment and other duties to a high standard
  13. Required to carry out other duties as assigned by WBTC’s senior management team
 
This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The post holder will be required to undertake other activities related to achieving the organisations objectives, as determined by the Manager. PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

JOB TITLE: Employability Learning Coordinator
Evidence
Proven experience of teaching and assessing in an employment/vocational environment with a recognised teaching qualification e.g. PGCE, DTLLS or Cert Ed Post 16 or commitment to work towards

Good working knowledge of employability and personal development qualifications, awarding body procedures and the ability to match resources to learner needs

Excellent organisational skills, computer and written skills

Understanding of national and legislative standards in further education sector including OFSTED Common Inspection Framework and ability to transfer this knowledge into other employment sectors
