Congratulations to our Learner of the Quarter, Ben Lees Smith

Ben took a well-earned break from working on the computer numerical control lathes at SPX on Wednesday to be presented with his Learner of the Quarter Award and prize money of £25. Pictured above with WBTC Training Coordinator Harry Walker and SPX Business Support Supervisor Linda Higgs, Ben said, “It’s been a challenge studying for my qualifications, as I have dyslexia, but WBTC gave me a lot of help and support; its really nice to know that my effort has been recognised. SPX is a great place to gain experience on the machinery and I have really enjoyed meeting new people. I especially want to thank all those who have mentored me during the last three years of my apprenticeship, particularly Will Velvick who has been training me more recently in CNC Machining.”

Linda Higgs of SPX said, “We are very proud of all of our apprentices, and the hard work they do here. Ben is an excellent example of what can be achieved. This is a well-deserved award.”

Nominating him, Harry Walker said “Ben has done exceptionally well with holding down a demanding full time job and trying to learn and obtain his qualifications at the same time.”
