Job Title: Adult Skills & Employability Sales Person
 
Salary: Fixed Term 12 months circa £21,000
 
Hours: Full time or Part Time
 
Responsible to: Employability Learning Manager
 
 
We’re on a journey of transformation and we’re looking for an outstanding individual to lead on employability within WBTC. WBTC is a caring and innovative provider with a reputation for high-quality provision that is responsive to the needs of our learners. Based in West Berkshire, we specialise in providing excellent training and support to learners with diverse and complex needs.
One of our core objectives is to dramatically increase the number of our learners gaining employment and qualifications. You will be at the heart of this transformation working with local referral agencies and employers to increase the uptake of training and jobs. You will raise the operational profile of employability across the area to secure a significant proportion of learners move into employment and or gain qualifications meeting targets as appropriate.
 
You will also provide direct assessments, support classroom teaching, consult trainers, engage parents and employers, monitor learners ILPs and support self-assessment and quality improvement of employability.
 
To apply, you should have a proven track record of working with employers to significantly increase entry into employment. You should also have experience of working with referral agencies such as Job Centre Plus, Trade Unions, and Youth Service, Connexions (Careers advice) to engage and enrol eligible learners.
 
 A good standard of education is essential, as are outstanding communication and organisational skills. A teaching qualification and assessor awards would be an advantage.
 
Job Location: This role is mainly focused on Berkshire and will be based from our Newbury Office. However significant time will be spent finding new learners and new employment opportunities for them.
 
Job Purpose:
To work as part of the Business Development team to recruit to the following programmes
  • Skills for Unemployed Adults
  • Workplace Learning for those in low skilled and insecure employment
  • Skills support for those facing redundancy
  • Apprenticeships for those employed full time
 Principal Duties:
  1. Engage and enrol eligible learners onto Employability Programmes and Adult Apprenticeship 
  2. Engage employers to offer work placements, employment, Apprenticeships to those aged 19+
  3. Responsible for the support of a range of Employability Learning programmes which may embed into vocational programmes. These include but are not restricted to
    • Building relationships with unemployed learners to help move them into employment
    • Building relationships with under-employed learners to promote them into more secure employment
    • Engaging new employers to match unemployed learners into
    • Co-opting the buy-in of recruitment agencies as a regular source of work progressions for unemployed learners.
    • Engaging new employers to recruit existing employees into Apprenticeships
  4. You will be responsible for working closely with the Employability Learning Team and Work-based Learning Team to ensure that eligible and motivated learners are recruited. In addition you will support new employers in the early stages of the process should they recruit an unemployed learners
  5. To assess learners in accordance with eligibility requirements of the programmes and to deliver inductions.
  6. To undertake administrative duties, maintaining confidential records, monitor, review and evaluate work in line with quality standards.
  7. To comply with WBTC confidentiality policies and procedures
  8. Responsible for ensuring Health and Safety is implemented and maintained
  9. Ensure compliance with equal opportunities and other legislative requirements
  10. Required to work as part of a team, sharing resource development and promoting good practice; attend team and staff meetings as required
  11. Required to undergo training recommended by the line manager
  12. Required to carry out other duties as assigned by WBTC’s senior management team
 
This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The post holder will be required to undertake other activities related to achieving the organisations objectives, as determined by the Manager.
